the dilemma of a mother, wife and daughter…

‘I don’t like skinny women’

‘I don’t like skinny women’ – That goes my husband’s very wise and very
politically-correct remark each time I ask him if I’m getting too fat. I take
comfort in his answer as long as I don’t have time for reflection.
The moment I start thinking too much (which I constantly do),
i inevitably conclude that my significant other didn’t really answer
my question. If anything, it was a slick evasion of the question.

Martini - I visited the Detox programme link you
shared….it sure sounds do-able. I am officially
depressed about my weight gain. I’m 10kg overweight.

Whew. How liberating is that, to actually type it out.

I really should do something about that. Not that
hubby’s complaining. He’s such a darling. But a
girl’s gotta start doing something once her
mother-in-law (MIL) starts thinking it’s alright
to comment on her daughter-in-law’s weight gain.
Man it hurts. Since I don’t think I can sign her up
for lessons on tact and sensitivity, my best bet to
actually shut people up is to actually lose all
that weight.

My self-esteem has really taken a nose-dive. It’s
amazing how one swift, tactless remark can ruin
your entire day (not to mention your sense of self).

I’m gonna try that Detox thingy. And I’m going to
try out a slimming massage. And try to go to the gym
once or twice a week. For the record, I’ve been skipping
lunch for 2 whole weeks and have lost some 2kg. But
I’m still not thin enough for my MIL. Not yet.
